Ocean CC and Middlesex College Join Forces for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October 24, 2025
Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College's women's volleyball team hosted Middlesex College on October 15 for "Pink Day," an event in which teams, staff, and fans were encouraged to dress in pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., breast cancer death rates have dropped 44% since 1989, due in no small part to the efforts made in raising awareness about seeking examinations, and catching potential cancer cases before they begin, through early detection.
Additionally, visitors to OCC Volleyball's home matches throughout the month of October were encouraged to bring non-perishable goods to donate to Ocean's on-campus food pantry, Helping Hands, which provides support to both the campus population, and Ocean county residents.
"It's always a wonderful thing when our colleges can join forces to support worthy causes," stated OCC Executive Director of Athletics Ilene Cohen. "I'd like to thank our friends at Middlesex for supporting our initiatives here and helping those in need."
