6 Women's Soccer Players Named to All-Region XIX Team, Rettino Player of the Year

Toms River, NJ - Six members of the Ocean County College Women's Soccer team were named to the 2022 NJCAA All-Region XIX Teams today in recognition of their achievements on the field this season, with sophomore head captain Juliana Rettino named Region XIX Player of the Year.

Ocean freshmen Melanie Lockwood, Holly Applegate, Jessica Smith, Marquella Boutsikaris and Alexis Scully have each played pivotal roles in the Vikings' success thus far this season, with Juliana Rettino leading the way. Regarding Rettino's performance, OCC Women's Soccer Head Coach Breeana Cassidy was effusive with praise: "No one is more deserving than Jules, our head captain this season. This girl hustles every second out on the field no matter who she is playing. There is never any quit in her. She has been the backbone for two years and my ONLY returner," Coach Cassidy continued. "She is a player that believed we could turn this program around. Jules had a lot to do with the incredible season the Vikings are having. Not only is she an absolute baller, but a great teammate and person as well."

The "absolute baller" and the rest of the Vikings host Brookdale Community College on Saturday, October 29 at 12 P.M. in a battle for the NJCAA Region XIX Championship.
