Zaccagna, Ritter Lead OCC Esports Through Week 4 Smash Action

Toms River, NJ - OCC Esports continued their season-long stellar play on the virtual battlefield that is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with Justin Ritter and Conner Zaccagna each picking up wins. Ritter won via forfeit versus Hocking Community College, improving his singles record to 4-0 on the season, while Zaccagna worked out a 3-2 victory against Hostos Community College, lifting his record to 3-1. Team captain Jackson French (4-0) enjoyed a rare bye week, and cheered on his teammates.
"Conner outplayed his opponent for most of his matches, but gave up a 2-stock lead in the opening round to get himself down 0-2," recounted Esports Head Coach John Ruhl. "Conner did a great job of composing himself and went on to win 3 straight to finish the comeback. Every match counts and he might have really hurt his chances for reaching the playoffs if he lost this week. However, I think a few wins like this under high-pressure situations will give Conner the confidence he needs to win the close ones in the playoffs. Watch the stream to enjoy the drama."
