December 11, 2025
Toms River, NJ - Ocean CC Men's Basketball dealt undefeated, nationally-ranked #4 Union College of New Jersey their 1st loss of the season in a 65-60 stunner in Toms River on Thursday (12/11).
The Vikings exploded out of the game's opening tip-off, opening up a 7-point lead against the Owls within the first 5 minutes before Union was able to settle and attempt to recover. Though the Vikings largely controlled the 1st half by a slim margin, this was a matchup that repeatedly swung back and forth, with 6 different tied scores, and 10 lead changes before Ocean locked in their 5th consecutive win (and 7th total) of the season. Ocean guards Jamari Smith (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat H.S.) and Aiden Sosinov (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan H.S.) led the winning effort for the Vikings, with Smith contributing 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Sosinov 17 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman guard Mason Krey was also a key contributor, scoring a season-best 14 points, as Ocean elevates to 7-3 overall.
"This was a really important win for us," reflected OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan. "We knew going in that it was going to be a battle, and it definitely was. I was most proud of the fact that we were able to maintain our composure in a game that had many ups and downs. We now need to build on this and finish the month strong."
The red-hot Vikings will next host Passaic County CC this Tuesday, December 16 at 7pm.
