Men's Basketball Downs RCSJ Gloucester, 97-76
Toms River, NJ -OCC Men's Basketball locked in their 9th win in their last 10 games following a 97-76 home defeat of RCSJ Gloucester on Tuesday (1/13).
The Vikings got off to an uncharacteristically sluggish start in the 1st half, trading single point leads with the Roadrunners through 20 minutes, and heading into the intermission tied at 38. Ocean returned for the 2nd half refocused, and established a lead that they expanded and maintained until the buzzer. OCC freshman guard Aiden Sosinov (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan H.S.) was explosive on both ends of the court, leading the team in both scoring (30 points) and defense (9 defensive rebounds, 18 total), while sophomore guard Kai Barckley (Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River South H.S.) had his highest-scoring night of the season, blasting Gloucester for 18 points from beyond the arc (22 points total). Additionally, newly-minted NJCAA and Garden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week Jamari Smith drove the lane to score 14, while bringing down 6 rebounds in the victory.
The Vikings elevate to an overall record of 11-4, and next take the court on Thursday, January 15, when they host the Owls of Union College of New Jersey at 6:30pm.
