OCC Golf Prepares for GSACs, Regions at Flanders Valley and Ash Brook
April 20, 2026
Toms River, NJ - The 2026 golf Season is coming down the back nine, and the Ocean County College Golf Team is ready to fire at the flags at the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and Region 19 Championships.
Chipping in nearly identical scores of 346 and 347 in their two most recent events, 4/15 and 4/20 at the GSAC and Region 19 rehearsal rounds at Flanders Valley Golf Club and Ash Brook Golf Courses, respectively, Coach Sean Fawcett's Vikings are looking to improve and compete in their return visits to Flanders, home of County College of Morris for next Wednesday's (4/29) GSAC Tournament and May 11th and 12th's two day, two round season-ending finale in the 2026 Region 19 Championship at Union County of NJ's Ash Brook.
Ocean CC team captains Maxx Agnello and Danny Sicknick helped lead the way with solid 18-hole totals of 83 and 84, with first-year starter Aaron Palmer putting in one of his lowest rounds of 2026, a 83 on Monday. Number 3, first-year player Mason Krey, unfortunately had to pull out after 6 holes with a left thumb injury, but should be good to go for the 29th and May 11th and 12th. Krey, along with Agnello and Palmer, is averaging 85 shots per round, ranking the threesome 22nd, 23rd, and 24th in the 48-man Region 19 standings thus far.
"Our team has been shooting good rounds, in the mid to low 80s of late," remarked Fawcett. "Mason will be okay for the last two tournaments, and we'll need his good form, along with Danny's newfound confidence to help us post 4 scores around 80 to give us a serious shot. It's going to take four rounds around 80 to help us shoot something around 320 or the 320s to have a chance. CC Morris, Gloucester and Cumberland, and even Raritan Valley and Sussex, have been putting up very good scores this year all year long. The competition has been the best it's been in my six years of coaching here. If we can all put it together at the very same time, we'll be right there. Win or lose, though, I'm very happy with these guys. It's been a fun season so far."
