Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Soccer demonstrated early that they will be a team to watch in Region 19, earning a 3-0 shutout win in their 2025 season opener on Tuesday (8/26).
Ocean freshman defense/midfielder Alex Penswater struck first for the Vikings, converting a passing sequence from Chase Norling and Jefferson Rubi Cruz in the 30th minute. This lead would be built upon in the second half with a pair of goals that arrived in quick succession from freshman forward/midfielder Josh Brazier, who notched his first score of the season in the 78th minute (assisted by Patrick Schlagenhaft), and once more in the 82nd, with Jefferson Rubi Cruz earning his 2nd assist of the match to close out the Mustangs.
OCC sophomore netminder Sam Barney was a proverbial brick wall, making 6 stops to secure the shutout.
The Vikings next take the pitch on September 6, when they travel north for a 12pm match against the Owls of Union College of New Jersey.
