Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Volleyball opened their 2026 season with a declaration of intent, pounding the nationally-ranked #5 Northampton CC Spartans through 3 straight sets, and earning a shutout victory.

Ocean's outside hitters overwhelmed Northampton from the outset, with freshman Abran Arrojo (Forked River/Lacey Township H.S.) stunning the Spartans with 17 kills and 19 points, and sophomore Jimmy Baxes (Forked River/Lacey Township H.S.) landing 6 kills and 6 points in the win. Sophomore setter Daniel Brunke (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Regional H.S.) led the team with 12 assists, and first-year middle hitter Erik Balkius (Toms River, NJ/Manchester H.S.) made his presence felt with 5 kills and 7 points tonight. The win marked the first for Ocean's new coaching tandem of Head Coach Jose Rafael, and Assistant Coach Hannah Steidle.

The Vikings will next take the court for their home opener, scheduled for this Wednesday, February 18, when they will host Atlantic Cape CC at 6:30pm.
