Darcy Drives Women's Basketball Past RCSJ Cumberland, 79-77
Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Women's Basketball secured their 3rd win of the season in a 79-77 defeat of visiting RCSJ Cumberland on Thursday (1/29).
OCC freshman Lola Darcy (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro H.S.) shattered her previous season-best point total of 28 with a 36-point night, as the guard pounded the Dukes on both ends of the court, pulling down 12 rebounds, dishing 7 assists, and grabbing 5 steals in the win. Sophomore team captain Brooke Schmidt (Lacey, NJ/Lacey Township H.S.) was similarly unstoppable, contributing 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to the winning effort.
The Vikings excelled in rebounding in this matchup, earning second chances and limiting them for the club-level Dukes. OCC freshmen Regan Ottinger (Brick, NJ/Wall H.S.), Marian Moore (Avalon, NJ/Belmar H.S.), and Alyssa Padilla (Bayville, NJ/Cantral Regional H.S.) all crashed the paint tonight to great results, with Ottinger nabbing 10 rebounds, and Moore and Padilla 8 each.
OCC Women's Basketball improves to 3-13 overall, and will next host Brookdale CC this Saturday, January 31 at 2pm.
